Wordless Wednesday: tying up loose ends

So much to do, so little time!

I started this project back in September, but had to leave it for a while in order to finish Chops’ Christmas stocking (which I managed to do, just in time!).
This cross-stitch rocking horse is going to be a gift for a friend’s new (totally gorgeous and completely adorable) baby girl and I’m seeing them both at the weekend, so have spent the last couple of evenings in front of the TV sewing.

Cross stitch rocking horse

I’m pleased with the way it’s turned out and now just need to add the baby’s name and date of birth (and find a frame!) before the weekend…

If you want to make this, I’ve taken a photo of the pattern here: free rocking horse cross stitch pattern (it’s from an Italian cross-stitch magazine called ‘Mille piu Mille’).

I love your blue horse, I’ve printed out the original pattern. I have a question, I’d like to make a horse like yours for a little boy, did you take the picture with you when you bought thread? I would choose DMC thread, as I’m most familiar with it. I really like the colors you used.

Hello Holly, I actually already had the thread, as I do quite a bit of cross-stitch, but otherwise I would have taken the pattern with me to buy it. You can always change the colours too – I have done a much more lilac and pale pink one for a baby girl, but I think the pattern works well for either gender…
